Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ketamine safe?

Ketamine is FDA approved and has been used safely in medical settings for decades. At The Healing Cornerstone, we use sub-anesthetic doses and closely monitor clients to ensure a secure experience.

Will I feel ‘high’ during the session?

Ketamine induces a dissociative state that can create a sense of detachment or altered perspective, but this is temporary and facilitated in a controlled environment to support therapy.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies based on individual needs and goals. During your consultation, we’ll discuss a tailored treatment plan.

Does insurance cover KAP?

That’s a great question. Currently, insurance plans do not reimburse for ketamine itself or for ketamine-assisted therapy as a distinct service. However, because each KAP session includes a 60-minute psychotherapy appointment, we are able to submit the psychotherapy portion to your insurance, subject to your plan’s coverage and benefits. The ketamine component of your session is not billed separately, and there is no additional charge for that portion.

However, there is a cost ($250 one-time fee) associated with meeting with the prescriber.

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an innovative, evidence-based approach that combines the therapeutic benefits of ketamine with psychotherapy to support mental health and emotional well-being. Ketamine, an FDA-approved medication, is used in sub-anesthetic doses to help clients access new perspectives and break through treatment-resistant barriers in a safe, structured therapeutic setting.
